The Computer Fundamentals intend to help English for computer Engineering to cope with the fundamental concepts in computer science which are often used for evaluating students' content knowledge. It provides information to those who want to have a practical knowledge of computer science. The book is intended as a guide to indicate the fundamental concepts of hardware, memory, and networks. This book provides a simple way of presenting the key terms in computer Engineering. The Computer Fundamentals is designed to appeal to undergraduate and graduate students to master their computer knowledge or brush up their information in the basic concept in computer knowledge.

Through years of teaching at different educational levels, we found some basic concepts in computers being repeatedly asked by the students. Some fundamental concepts were still vague for higher education. To ensure the consistency of the points posed by the learners, we found similar problems in different interview sessions. We found that the interviewees were confused in distinguishing some basic issues in Computer Science. Accordingly, we started to collect different key concepts and asked about the fundamentals of computer knowledge in different classrooms with the objective of uncovering the main concerns of the computing students. We asked our colleagues to help and share their knowledge and experience in the key terms which may help computer students to cope with computer fundamentals. The computer fundamentals aim to clarify some basic functions of computers, starting from computer hardware components to neural networks.

Notably, this book is outlined into three chapters dealing with hardware, memory, and networks. Study of basic concepts in hardware such as computer components, central processing unit (CPU), CMO CIRCUITS, and FPGA are included in the hardware section. Besides, some fundamentals in system memory, Random access memory (RAM), and types of ROM are included in the memory section. Finally, the last part deals with the network. It begins with the history of networks, common types of computer networks, different types, layers, and the basic internet concept. This book ends with an introduction to neural networks. There is no special prerequisite to learning computer fundamentals. This book was designed for computer students and those who are interested to learn the fundamental concepts of computing engineering. This book can be used as a special English course for students of computers. The contents can help beginner and professional learners to master their computer knowledge or brush up on their information in the basic concept of computer knowledge. School students, those who plan to learn English for a specific purpose, and to have practical knowledge of Somputer Science, can take advantage of this book. We hope the computer fundamentals help the intended readers consolidate the problematic concepts in Computer Science.
