This book is aimed to enable Socio Cognitive and Affective Computing, which has been an intensive research area for decades. Many core technologies, such as Machine Learning, statistical based models, Deep Learning and affective computing have been developed along the way, mostly prior to the new millennium. These techniques greatly advance the state of the art in Socio Cognitive and Affective Computing and in its related fields. The Socio-Cognitive and Affective Computing is a wide-ranging approach to comprehending human intelligence and machine cognition. It’s a research field which aims to investigate research problems and uses of affective computing and socio-cognitive behaviors. Human capabilities can be developed by using these ways to improve their powers of observation, analysis, decision-making, processing, and responding to others and to regular or difficult circumstances. In the recent years, however, we have observed a new surge of interest in Socio Cognitive and Affective Computing. In our opinion, this change was led by the increased demands on Cognitive Computing tools and the success of new applications such as IBM Watson, Artificial Intelligence tools like expert systems, and intelligent personal assistant tools like Amazon Echo, Apple Siri, Google Assistant, and Microsoft Cortana. Our unique aspect of this book is to broaden the view of bio inspired cognitive computation models. All in all, this book is likely to become a definite reference for researchers and practitioners in the Deep Learning era. This book masterfully covers the basic concepts required to understand affective computing as a whole, and also in detail the most cutting-edge research happening in this field. The reader of this book will become articulate in the new state of the art of socio cognitive and affective computing technologies.

Recent advances in socio-cognitive and affective computing require further study as countless benefits and opportunities have emerged from these innovative technologies that may be useful in a number of contexts throughout daily life. In order to ensure these technologies are appropriately utilized across sectors, the challenges and strategies for adoption as well as potential uses must be thoroughly considered.
